About Dr. Jenna Cheng
Dr. Jenna received her B.S. degree in cognitive science/neuroscience at UC San Diego. She then ventured east and received her medical degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she stayed to complete her adult psychiatry residency. There, she found herself drawn to the way adults talked about their childhoods. She went on to complete her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Harbor UCLA-Medical Center. Throughout training, she developed a profound appreciation for the psychodynamic approach rooted in attachment theory and humanistic psychology, supplemented with skills from behavioral approaches such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Dr. Jenna is particularly interested in trauma, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, behavioral issues, and psychotic symptoms. She is also passionate about helping immigrant families navigate the difficulties of adapting to a new environment. Her dedication to trauma and family work allows her to value an individualized, culturally-sensitive approach to care.
Dr. Jenna is board-certified in child and adult psychiatry. She is also certified in trauma-focused CBT, and trained in family therapy at UCLA. She is a member of the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles.
Dr. Jenna speaks conversational Mandarin and Japanese.
